Frank Summers was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and the only African-American member of the Indiana University track team in 1915. At the time, the fraternity was named Kappa Alpha Nu, but because of racial slurs encountered at a track meet, the fraternity changed it's name to Kappa Alpha Psi.
This is a red and white track jacket with an embroidered IU logo over the heart. The IU has details of the Kappa Alpha Psi coat of arms stitched within.
On the back of the jacket is the floating K diamond emblem, with the name SUMMERS sewn-on underneath. The main image embroidered on the back of the jacket is that of Frank Summers jumping over a hurdle.
